About NihonMinimal Studio
Founded in Tokyo in 2008, we are an architecture and interior design practice rooted in Japanese minimalism, thoughtful craftsmanship, and a deep respect for the spaces we inhabit.
A practice built on intentional design.
NihonMinimal Studio was founded by principal architects Kenji Mori and Ayaka Tanaka after years of practice in Tokyo and Amsterdam. Their combined experience — spanning residential architecture, urban planning, and fine interiors — gave rise to a studio philosophy where less is always more, and where the human being is always the measure of every decision.
Today, the studio operates from its Nihonbashi atelier with a team of twelve dedicated designers, architects, and project managers. We work across Japan and selected international commissions, maintaining a deliberately considered portfolio that allows us to give every project the attention it deserves.
